Cell Cycle

Experiment Observation of various stages of mitosis
and meiosis by slides, models and charts
5.1

Date ________________

Part 1: Study of mitosis

Background Mitosis is a cell division in which the two daughter cells receive the same
Information number of chromosomes as are present in the parent cell. It is a continuous
process in which sequence of events is divided into two major phases:
karyokinesis (division of nucleus) and cytokinesis (division of cytoplasm).
Karyokinesis is divided into four phases i.e. prophase, metaphase, anaphase
and telophase.

Interphase Prophase Prophase Metaphase

Anaphase Anaphse Telophase Interphase
