Procedure Œ Take potted plant having variegated leaves.
Expose the plant to strong sun light for three to four days.
Ž Remove a leaf from the plant. Draw its upper surface making a
distinction between green and non-green areas.
Perform the starch-test on the whole leaf.
Starch Test
Œ Put the detached leaf in boiling water for ! CAUTIONS
about half a minute to kill its protoplasm.
• Never heat the tube
Put the boiled leaf in a test tube containing of alcohol directly
ethanol, to remove its chlorophyll. over the burner

Ž Place test tube in a beaker of water
